A 36 year
old mother and 19 year old son have decided to go public with their affair in other
to raise awareness of Genetic Sexual Attraction relationships
Both have
been charged with incest by police could be jailed for having a sexual
relationship with each other.
Monica Mares, 36, and her son Caleb Peterson, 19, both
face up to 18 months in prison if found guilty of incest at a trial later this
year.
The couples say they are 'madly in love' and nothing
will tear them apart.
Caleb was adopted when he was a baby and only reunited
with his mum 18 years later.
Monica his mother who is also mother of nine was just
16 when she gave birth to her son and reconnected with him over Facebook before
arranging to meet up last Christmas.
In an interview with Daily Mail Online , the couple told how they are
willing to risk everything to be together.
The woman said she didn't feel strange or wrong
when they began their sexual relationship - but admits that it wouldn't have
happened if she had raised her son from birth.
In her statement she said "I felt
comfortable with him and we fell even more deeply in love."
Despite the opposition to the couple's
relationship, they do have supporters in the community - including Dayton
Chavez, the father to two of Monica's sons.
Prosecutor
Andrea Reeb, District Attorney for the Ninth Judicial District in New Mexico,
says incest is against the law and carries a maximum 18-month jail term and/or
a £3,000 fine.
the couples are not allowed to be in contact, Peterson left a rose for Mares on the bench at the
park in Clovis where the couple first expressed their love for each
other. Mares later collected the rose from the Clovis park bench and held it close to her heart

They are now banned from having contact with each
other and they live apart in Clovis, New Mexico, while they
await a trial next month.
