Floods killed people in Bauchi State of Nigeria



Reports have it that some people have been killed by flood in Ganjuwa and Giade local government areas of Bauchi state.

 In an interview with journalists in Bauchi, Musa Ladan, said that four people were killed in Galamakira and Galam Baba communities in Miya district of Ganjuwa local government, while eight persons also lost their lives as a result of flood in Gulbuk community in Giade local government area of the state.


In his statement he said “The flood killed four children who went out in the rain to wash their bodies. On their way home, they stepped on a culvert which caved in and the flood took them away,” he said.


According to the report, people in the community were able to recover the body of one of the children. The fourth victim who lost his life in the flood was  a farmer whose house collapsed due to the wind that accompanied the flood.


The permanent secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Aliyu Ahmad, said SEMA team in the state had visited the affected communities to commiserate with the affected victims’ families, and to assess the level of damage wrecked by the flood.


Also, four children have been confirmed dead as flood ravaged over 10 local government areas of Niger state and displacing many residents.
