A group of
animal rights protesters wrapped their naked bodies in a meat packaging trays
to advocate the benefits of a meat-free diet.
Protestors
from the group AnimaNaturalis, drench
their naked bodies in fake blood and
were wrapped into Styrofoam trays to look like pieces of meat.
The aim of the protest which took place on Sunday, 22nd
May on Sant Jaume Plaza in Barcelona was to inform the public about the benefit
of not eating meat or a meat free diet. see more pics below
According to the news, In March, Barcelona
declared itself a veggie-friendly city which includes the writing of
a vegetarian guide to the city and encouraging residents to give up meat at
least once a week.
The director of AnimaNaturalis in Spain Aida Gascon in her
statement said “We want to get the
attention of the city authorities, they pledged in March to join global
initiatives such as Paul McCartney’s ‘Meat Free Mondays’ campaign but have not
implemented anything yet,"
the director also pointed out in her statement that "the impact on the environment,
health and the ethical issues surrounding meat consumption are things we can no
longer ignore and to ask for one day of commitment from the authorities to
promote a diet free from animal products is only a small step, but an important
step".
