Spice Girl Mel B claims her estranged husband
brutally beat her any time she achieved success and sexually exploited her.
The former girl band member, 41, whose real
name is Melanie Brown, obtained a restraining order against her estranged
husband Stephen Belafonte on Monday after detailing extreme abuse she endured
throughout their relationship, TMZ reports.
Brown detailed how Belafonte, who she married
in 2007 before recently filing for divorce, would punch her in the face with a
closed fist, often surrounding her accomplishments like her finale of
"Dancing with the Stars" and her appearance on the "X
Factor."
On the night of her "DWTS" finale
in 2007, Belafonte allegedly choked his wife and slammed her to the floor,
which she said wasn't the first time.
She said he would "beat me down to let
me know he was in charge," according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
In addition to the physical abuse, Brown
claims Belafonte would force her to have sex with him and other women and that
he is threatening to release sex tapes that she is featured in.
