Bomb blast occurred in New York

BBC REPORTS that New York officials are looking for Ahmad Khan Rahami, a naturalised US citizen who was born in Afghanistan for questioning over Saturday's blast in the Chelsea area of Manhattan.

Early on Monday, a backpack containing up to five devices exploded in Elizabeth, New Jersey, when a bomb disposal robot tried to deactivate it.

The bomb injured 29 people and another unexploded device was found nearby.

The sound of Music actress Charmian Carr dies

 

Charmian Carr, best known for her role as Liesl Von Trapp in The Sound of Music has died, her family confirmed in a statement. She was 73.

According to a family statement Carr died on Saturday from complications from a rare form of dementia.

In a note on her official website, a man identified as Steve Hughes announced that Carr had died.

"My name is Steve Hughes, and my Company has been managing Charmian Carr's website for many, many years," he wrote. "Me and my family are so sad to have to post this message and will miss her dearly... We had the gracious opportunity to stay at Charmian Carr's house several times while we worked on different projects for her. And we traveled to New York with her on another occasion. She was such a nice, cheerful person. We always LOVED, The Sound of Music, and still do."

Women’s groups and human rights campaigners in Poland have staged protests against a proposed new law that would criminalize nearly all abortions.

Thousands gathered outside the national parliament in Warsaw while there were demonstrations in several other Polish cities – and a separate event outside the Polish embassy in London – to oppose a measure that would outlaw terminating pregnancies except where necessary to save a woman’s life.

The last moment of Vetrano before she was murdered

In the video, obtained by Crime Watch Daily, A 30-year-old woman had been strangled and possibly sexually assaulted the report said.

 

 Vetrano was jogging on a street that borders the Queens Park near her home when she was attacked.

According to CBS New York, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said the video was released with the approval of Vetrano’s family.

Obama to lead nation in remembering those killed on 9/11, beginning with moment of silence

President Barack Obama is joining the nation in remembering the nearly 3,000 people who died in the Sept. 11 attacks 15 years ago.

Obama is observing the somber anniversary with a moment of silence in the White House residence at 8:46 a.m. EDT. That's when the first of four hijacked airplanes slammed into the north tower of New York City's World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

Three women killed while staging an attack

 

three women were killed while staging a knife and firebomb attack on the main police station in the Kenyan city of Mombasa on Sunday in what officers said was "an apparent terror attack."

Mombasa County police chief Peterson Maelo said the three women had entered the city's busiest police station in mid-morning saying they wanted to report a stolen phone.

"In the process one hurled a petrol bomb at the report office as the others confronted two officers and stabbed them," Maelo told journalists at the scene.

A man has died after he was stabbed in a fight in Birmingham.

The victim, in his 20s, was treated by paramedics but died at the scene in Highfield Road, Washwood Heath.

according to the news A 25-year-old man was arrested in the early hours of Sunday on suspicion of murder.

West Midlands Police said officers were called to reports of a fight between groups of men.

Armed men entered a temple in Leamington Spa

 

According to BBC NEWS, police confirmed that  A group of men carrying "bladed weapons" are occupying a temple in Leamington Spa,.

Warwickshire Police said about 20 or 30 men entered the temple, on Tachbrook Drive, at about 06:45 BST on Sunday.

Officers are inside the temple attempting to negotiate with the group.

Paris Judge Charges Woman for Terror Attack

A judge handed preliminary charges on Saturday to a 29-year-old woman whom authorities suspect is part of a female "terrorist commando" in the service of the Islamic State group — one of five suspects in an aborted attack near Notre Dame Cathedral and another possible attack thwarted by police.

 

 According to ABC NEWS, The discovery of an abandoned car early last Sunday led investigators to the arrests of three more women and a man that revealed links to two attacks this year in France claimed by the Islamic State group and underscored the overlapping nature of the terrorist web.
