US Compensate the family of a boy killed by a vehicle in UN Ambassador

The US has compensated the family of a Cameroon boy who was killed by a vehicle in UN Ambassador Samantha Power's motorcade.

The boy was fatally hit by the ambassador's convoy in April.
The late Birwe Toussem, was among villagers lined up along a two-way highway to greet the ambassador, the incident occurred when the boy ran onto the street as the motorcade drove by. It was an armoured jeep that struck the boy. An ambulance responded to the scene, but the boy died after the accident.


Cameroon's government, organizations and the UN also donated 5m francs to the family, making the total to more than $10,000 (£7,393).

The Ambassador was on a trip to show US support in the battle against militant Islamist group Boko Haram when the accident occurred.

The US has provided the family with 1m Central African francs (£1,257).
The boy's family was also given the following items like cows, flour, onions, rice, salt, sugar, soap and oil,

According to state department officials, The US would also build a well to provide fresh drinking water for the boy's community.
